Rizino
Long Acting, Non-Sedating Anti-Allergy
Each 5 ml of syrup contains:
Cetirizine Dihydrochloride.....5 mg
CLINICAL PHARMACOLOGY:
Rizino Syrup contain Cetirizine dihydrochloride which is a potent second generation long-acting, non sedating antihistamine with anti allergic effects. Rizino blocks selectively peripheral histamine H-receptors and is devoid of anti-adrenergic, anti serotonin and anti chlolinergic effects. In addition, Rizino inhibits the release of histamine from mast cells and prevents the migration of inflammatory cells. Compared to the commonly used first generation H-receptor antagonists, Rizino does not readily penetrate into the CNS and therefore does not cause sedation, fatigue, lassitude and drowsiness. Rizino does not act synergistically with CNS depressants. Clinically, Rizino provides rapid relief of the manifestations commonly encountered with allergic disorders (e.g. itching, hyperaemia, lacrimation, swelling of eyelids, sneezing, nasal itching and rhinorrhoea. Rizino protects against histamine-induced bronchospasm and exerts mild bronchodilator effect in cases of mild to moderate asthma. Rizino does not affect the ECG even aa high doses. Rizino suppresses allergic manifestations rapidly within 15-30 minutes and its action lasts for up to 24 hours. Therefore, once daily administration is extremely effective in relieving the signs and symptoms of allergic diseases without causing drowsiness or impairing the performance of daytime activities.
